Sometimes you get a jewel when you least expect it.I found Bigger Things as a book club selection. Otherwise, I don't think I would have read it - which would have been sad! Ev Bishop gets the emotions, dilemmas, and challenges all down perfectly in this tale of three friends trying to stay friends after changes seriously challenge their lives. The men! The food! The clothes! The weight of it all... and the loss of weight. Classic "be careful what you wish for" stuff. Get Biigger Things! You'll be glad you did.

Just loved this story. The author is wonderful. I was only disappointed that there were no plus sized vampires. Maybe in the next book ;-)
This book took me by surprise. I had no idea what to expect when I picked it up, but what I found was a thoughtful, inspiring, sometimes heartbreaking, and raw story that lays bare the nature of friendships; the different relationships people struggle through with food, other people, and most of all ourselves; and the lies we tell to be the people others expect us to be. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Wonderful Read!
This story resolves around Frienships and dealing with/overcoming real life struggles. This story gives us Hope. Beautifully written. Witty. Funny. Loved it. I would highly recommend to anyone.
This is a lovely read. All three of her focal characters have a secret and are fully rounded, understandable, and growing. Bishop deftly deconstructs all the faulty self-images women fall prey to, especially the ones associated with body image.
I Loved this Book! Three friends each with a secret. I really identified with Jen and found out I think like FAT GIRL! Ev Bishop made me rethink the way I related to my friends and how sometimes you have to stand up for your self even when it is hard. It made me think, feel and Laugh! So would recommend this to everyone.
Funny, heart-warming, sexy and socially relevant. It will make you smile--it may even make you cry. And it will probably make you take a second look at some unexamined assumptions. An unflinching look at body image and food, and how they integrate with our psyches (our relationships, our entire approach to life), _Bigger Things_ injects humour and relate-able characters into dark topics that effect us all. So nice to read a piece of women's fiction targeted at 20-30-somethings that stays funny, but isn't just superficial fluff.
I found this book on a Facebook book club and liked the cover. After reading the blurb I thought the subject matter was something that not only resonated with me personally, but is definitely a sore subject in the world today. I like that the author seemed to connect all these aspects in her storyline. I found myself flipping pages easily and enjoying the book as a whole. Some small things bugged me the friends conversations often seemed more like acquaintances than friends at the level they were at and there were some plot lines that I could see coming. But on the whole this was an enjoyable read. I would absolutely look at other books by this author.
